John runs his own compliance and regulatory consultancy business based in the Isle of Man. He provides services to both regulated entities in the Isle of Man and to International Regulatory bodies. In addition he acts as a director for a number of international collective investment funds and he is the chairman of the AIM listed Value Catalyst Fund.

He is the author of a handbook for directors of collective investment vehicles focusing on corporate governance, risk assessment modeling and compliance monitoring. From 2003 until the beginning of 2005 he was CEO of KYCOS, Ltd. (Know Your Customer Outsourced Services) Prior to this, John held the position of Managing Director of the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA). In this capacity, he was the foremost figure responsible for financial regulation in the world’s 5th largest financial centre.

Prior to his arrival in the Cayman Islands, John was Head of Supervision at the Isle of Man Financial Supervision Commission and was actively involved in the introduction of the Isle of Man EIF (experienced investor fund) Before this he worked for nearly 24 years within the financial services arm of the Barclays Bank Group, including Barclays Unicorn (the Banks unit trust group) before becoming Compliance Officer for Barclays Bank Trust Company Limited.

John holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Financial Services Regulation and is a Fellow of both the Compliance Institute (F Col) and the Chartered Institute of Bankers (FCIB). He is a regular speaker at international regulatory forums and is chief moderator of the International Diploma in Financial Administration.
