John is licensed by the Isle of Man Financial Supervision Commission to act as a professional officer as defined by Isle of Man regulations. He acts as a director of a total of 33 companies ( as at 30th September 2010) the majority relating to Premier Group Isle of Man and its stable of collective Investment funds.
John is chairman of the AIM listed Value Catalyst Fund and a director of Dhir India Investments PLC which is also AIM listed. He is also the Chairman of the (UK) Compliance Institute.
In addition he runs his own compliance and regulatory consultancy business based in the Isle of Man focusing on corporate governance and regulation. John Bourbon Consulting Limited is a member of the Isle of Man Fund Management Association.
In Gibraltar, John is the Chairman of Stockbroker and Investment Manager, Gibraltar Asset Management Limited and he is authorized as a director of collective investments in Malta.
From 2000 until 2002, John held the position of Managing Director of the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority. He was in 2001, one of the co-authors of the Basel Customer Due Diligence policy which was subsequently adopted by all of the worlds banking regulators. Prior to his arrival in the Cayman Islands, John was Head of Supervision at the Isle of Man Financial Supervision Commission. Before this he worked for nearly 24 years within the financial services arm of the Barclays Bank Group.
From 2002 John was one of the founders of KYCOS an organization which developed a unique KYC and due diligence service provided across International Financial Centres from the Isle of Man, Jersey and Dublin to the Cayman Islands. He worked on this project for three years.
John holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Financial Services Regulation and is a Fellow of both the Compliance Institute (FCol) the Chartered Institute of Bankers (FCIB) and the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (FCSI). |
